I have an autopilot DIG-220 with a SC-48 cell. I have had it close to 5 years. I has worked flawlessly with very minimal issues. Over the past few weeks I keep getting a message saying "Check clean cell". I have inspected the cell. There is no scale build up at all. The pool chemistry is perfect. I have tried rebooting the DIG-220 still same message. I checked the volts and amps. 27V 4.4amps. (Is this ok)The salt is at 3400ppm. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is the cell on its way out. It is close to the end of its life in terms of years of service, but I do not want to by another cell if I am going to get the same message. I figured of the cell was bad it would say so in the message display. Thanks for any information you can provide me.

It could possibly be the cell. If the outer or center edges of the blades have started to wear, it is an indication the cell may not be up to par.

On another pool forum I noticed that there are three or four of us who have recently had AutoPilot boards go out. Ours quit producing and I checked the board closely to learn there is a burnt spot on it. You might check your board closely... and check all three fuses... take them out and test them.

I thought about buying a new board, but we have to be getting close to needing a new cell as well, since ours is right at 5 years old. BUT, the replacement cells are ridiculously high. By the time I buy a new board and new cell, I'll have $1200 in the system again... without a full warranty on the entire system. I will be better off buying a new Goldline Aqua Rite 40K system for $900 and have fresh warranty on everything. I think AutoPilot has priced themselves out of consideration by me.
