Filter Question

We purchased and setup a intex AG 12 x 20 pool this spring. For the most part it is just fine. Although I am concerned about the filter that came with it. It takes a Type A cartridge and the filter and pump are integrated into one piece. I also have a Hayward 180T that isn't doing anything and am wondering if I shouldn't plumb it into the system, the pump that was with it is a big elec. eating beast. My question is if the pump that came with the pool has the power to get through the 180 and if then it will have enough flow for my salt water chlorine generator to work.
