After opening my 18k 6yr old plaster pool, After shocking with Cal Hypo I tested my ph it was above 8 ! The kids noticed the walls and bottom where very rough and sharp.
In a previous year my pool builder suggested I drop my ph down to 6.8 and add a sequestering agent. I lowered my ph to 6.8 and added 2 bags of hydroquest. It's been about 10days and I am noticing a slight improvement in the smoothness of the walls and bottom. Water is a little cloudy. Testing the water today with my PS233 I get the following
FC = 0
CC = 0
TC = 0
PH = 7.2
ALK = 40
CAL = 420
CYA = 30
temp 72
I added 2 gal of bleach to boost TC.
My question is what should I do next ? Keep ALK and PH low to aid in the removal of scale ?
Any advice would be appreciated. I am running out of band-aids
thanks
Ollie
