We were at 77.5 degrees yesterday, so this afternoon is OPENING time! We have had a streak of 90's and this weekend is suppose to hit triple digits. I have been gaining about 1 degree a day in the past week.

Normally in the winter, I leave the pool uncovered because it filters more efficiently, and maintenance is easier (we never close the pool). This year I put the cover back on early, in late Feb. Looks like we'll open our pool a full 30 days earlier than last year! I think we're on to something...

Happy Swimming!

It's great to know that it's soooo close, isn't it? My pool is ready to go, water temps in the mid 70s, just waiting for it to hit 80. We've had a lot of rain lately, so it's taking longer to warm up than I wanted, but I think we'll be in it this weekend!

Me Too! My water's now a balmy 52 degrees and cloudy....we should be ready to swim...in a week....:(

Actually, with all the rain AND warm weather it's no wonder I have a pre-season bloom. I usually have the pool open in April as soon as the ice melts so I can get chlorine in it before any thing grows. But this year the ice has been gone for weeks....so this was expected. Al (Poconos) and Lisa (Watermom) faced the same thing.

Still, with lots of LC, the pump running and my Blue Diamond pulling out LOTS of organic stuff it should clean up quick.

Mine went from green to blue in one day. Vacuumed up as much organic stuff as possible and then slammed it with bleach. Next day -- no green. Within a couple more days of continued dosing with bleach and filtering and it was no longer cloudy. Hope to swim in a couple of weeks. Out of town this weekend for my nephew's wedding, so the solar heater probably won't get hooked up until next weekend. Then, we just need some sunny days! Lots of rain this past week. Rain most every day all week and I think they are saying more for the weekend. Hopefully not TOO much. We don't need any more water around here for awhile. During one of the 24 hour periods, we got between 2-3 inches. Lots of areas had flooding. Send sun!!!

Yeah, mine is cleaning up nicely. I dumped 2 tri-chlor tabs in the skimmer as I have no CYA in the water and none in the house--that helped keep a constant level of FC overnight. FC is holding at 10+ now, and the water while not crystal-clear yet, is blue, too. Also the B/D is pulling SO much organic stuff out it's making the LC's job easier.

Temp is rising fast--it's now 58 deg and was 50 yesterday. Even with the clouds and rain it should warm up a lot.

Backwashed once already.

Two problems:
1) New doggy had decided to dig around my pool trunk, an outdoor cabinet that both hides the pump and filter and holds handy stuff. He's very handsome, very loving, adores everyone, and is constantly in trouble--a true rascal. He'll be a year old at the end of the month.

2) I just threw out my back 15 minutes ago--bent just a tiny bit wrong hauling a 5-gal bucket and POW! Icing it now...

Oh, Carl, hope it gets better soon--that hurts!!!

Swim season has officially started--got back from my daughter's rodeo last night and we were all hot and sweaty, just couldn't resist--man that pool felt good!! Water temp is 79.4.....close enough!! The girls got up this morning wanting to go right back in, so I guess we're officially swimming. With current air temps in the 90s and humidity between 90-100%, it feels good!!!!
