My Pentair pump failed on me and I bought a Hayward Power-FLo Matrix pump only to find the unions are a bit larger. I am running to a pentair DE filter with multiport valve. Should I be looking for a certain style of hose to fit this pump or just find an adapter to make the unions more standard to fit my current setup?
Thanks

It sounds like you might have gone from 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" fittings, or even 2". You can adapt up or down, but be aware that thinner hoses have more resistance giving faster water speed, higher pressures, but less volume and thicker ones give less resistance, slower water speeds, lower pressure and greater volume. Each, selected correctly can have their own advantages.

Thanks Carl. Actually they are both 1 1/2" openings, but the union OD is larger on the hayward. I was able to use a buttress to adapt my regular hoses and cut off valves. All is well now....well...except for a leak around my DE filter that I cannot figure out. O'ring is in perfect condition and I thought I had everything seated correctly.

Did you also get a set of the Hayward half unions? If not that is what you need. They are not a standard size so you have to buy the Hayward ones.

The buttress I bought work perfectly and I am able to use the same hoses I had with my Pentair Pump. The leak is around the DE filter itself where the upper and lower halfs sit on the o'ring. I probably just have it seated a little off. Could not find much on hayward unions when i was searching though...
