Left Thursday the 11th to escape hurricane Ike. Shut down my equipment.
30,000 G white plaster inground.
Everything was fine when I left.
Chlorine generator.
No power as of yet, do not know when it will come back on.
Have a lot of debris in pool, but I can't see it (even in the shallow end) because of green.
Tried getting out what I could, but without being see it I can't get it.
Mostly oak branches, etc.
Put 6 pounds of shock in today (had other issues of a higher priority yesterday and this morning).
Suggestions?

If it were my pool I would just get out as much debris as you can and not worry about the pool until you have electicity--it'll be really green and possibly black, but it's fairly easy to fix, once you have the pump and filter going again.

Hope you don't have damage to your home or loved ones....I'd definitely put the pool on the back burner until life starts getting a little more back to normal.

maybe, I noticed this morning that I could distinguish between light and dark patches in the shallow end, so I added 3 pounds more of shock. I also have critters (I have seen two turtles) starting to take up residence. I am afraid it will turn into a mosquito breeding grounds, and right now we have way more than enough of those thanks to hurricane Ike.
BTW House and Family are fine, just no power (and lets not talk about the smell in the house from the freezer, but that is another story).

Yes, I know about the freezer smell...we were only out of power for a few days, and it definitely is a real PITA. Still lost a good bit of my frozen stuff.

If you have a way to circulate the water, then it won't hurt to add the shock--at least it will prevent multitudes of new mosquito generations....but I wouldn't put too much effort and worry into actually clearing up the water until you have pump and filter.

Well my Golden Retriever circulated some of the water yesterday, now she stinks. Geesh. The water is not green any more, and I got the most of the debris out of the shallow and mid level portions. Got a little bit from the deep end, but still can not see there. The water is cloudy/milky now. Got one turtle out, but saw a larger one and a couple of babies. just can't chase them down without being able to see. One I did catch was about 8 inches long. Dumped a couple more pounds of shock in this morning. Added a floater with a few Tri-Chlor tabs in last night, but not am expecting to much from that.
I just don't want no more dang skeeters!

How's the pool looking now? I hope your electricity is back on by now?
