I have a Hayward 48 DE filter that is showing some cracks in the bottom half. Water is starting to leak through three of the cracks. The rest of the filter is in fine shape, so I am reluctant to replace it. Are there any techniques that will work to patch the cracks and keep it (mostly) water tight?

You can try epoxy putty, which might get you through the rest of the summer. Or you can just buy the bottom part of the filter (DEX2400A1T if it's the permaglass type) though the list for >$300 and you may be better off buying the whole filter and have back- up parts from the original.

i used epoxy with fiberglass mesh tape used in spackling sheetrock joints. (on the exterior and interior of the tank)
