need tips on vacuuming out sand

A broken stand pipe in my sand filter ended up spewing a lot of sand into the pool this spring.

Regular vacuuming just pushes it around. Any tips out there?

Have you repaired the filter? Until you do vacuuming isn't going to accomplish much:( If you'd tell me exactly your vacuuming procedure, I'll give my input on how to get the dang sand out of the pool:)

If your vacuum is actually working, then you need to direct the output to waste rather than back in the pool.

Got it done. Opened up the skimmer supply all the way and cut the main drain supply back. This was enough to quickly remove the sand without just pushing it around.
