CLoudy Water

I hope someone can help me!! I opened my pool one week ago & it is still cloudy. It's a 24ft Round AG pool. My Numbers seem ok:

FC= 2
pH= 7.5
aLK= 120

I do not know why it is not clearing up. I run the pump between 10 & 12 hours a day. Any advice would be great, as I am very frustrated!! Thanks!!

Have you tested for CYA, or have you added any? In order to clear it, assuming no CYA, you're going to have to up your chlorine to the 10-12 ppm range and keep it there until it clears, which should not take more than a day or two, IF you keep it consistently high. If you have CYA in the pool already, then we need levels to figure out the chlorine level necessary to shock the pool. If no CYA already, then you need to add some to the pool to help protect your chlorine from the sun.


also, have you added any calcium, or are you using cal-hypo to chlorinate with? If so, what's your calcium level? High calcium can also cause milky-looking water.
