tear in liner

i have an inground pool with vinyl liner that is 15 years old. when i opened the pool yesterday, i noticed it does have about a 4 inch tear above water level and 2 other small tears in the same general area. i know it's time to replace the liner, however i would like to try patching first and try to make it thru the season and replace the liner in the off season.
Can anyone please tell me the process, including what to use, in order to patch the liner. thanks
