Fixing Wrinkles

I'm going to try to fix a few liner wrinkles towards the top of my water line and just want to make sure I"m doing it right. I have a 24ft A/G with a vinyl liner that overhangs the top(not the beaded type).

I'm going to drain about 1/4 of the water, then take off the top rails and plastic trim that holds the liner in place around the entire pool. I'm just going to pull the liner up a section at a time until the wrinkles are gone, for tougher wrinkles I'm going to use a hose and flow water behind the liner until the wrinkles smooth out. As I remove the wrinkles I'll replace the trim and top rail to the keep it wrinkle free.

Any problems doing it this way? I know I should be using a vacum somewhere in the process but I"m not sure how and am afraid I'll cause more damage.

John, sounds like you're going about this the right way:) I'm assuming that the wrinkles are horizontal, not ~ vertical - if they were ~ vertical, you'd have to slide the top of the liner around to get them out. There is no need for a vac with the overlap liners, and in fact I wouldn't use a vac for any liner if you're only lowering 1/4 of the water - as long as you have 6+" of water up the wall, the vacs aren't necessary.

Most are horizontal but I do have a few vertical. What do you mean by "slide the top around"? Im figuring I'll have to pull the liner away from the wall anyway and move it around a little.

Again, you've got it right!:cool: The top of the liner would have to be moved in the direction of the bottom of a ~vertical wrinkle to make it go away - you can't get 'too crazy' with it or you'll cause a wrinkle in the other ~ vertical direction:(

Just a follow up question, my overlap liner has the black plastic strips that fit over the top of the liner. Should I wait to fix all the wrinkles to put them back or can I put them on as I work out the wrinkles one section at a time.

I would take it 1 or 2 sections at a time unless you had to have more of it off to work the entire wrinkle.:cool:
