View Full Version : When should I Remove the Cover?

Most of our leaves have fallen and I could remove the cover at anytime. It is just a leaf net held down with water bags. Our pump has ran on low speed all winter, so I guess we didn't really close the pool, just covered. The swg doesn't generate chlorine until the water temp reaches about 55 degrees. But the water is still clear.

My main concern is the yellow tree pollen that we get in April. Last year there were several days the we had to clean the skimmer socks every day. Will the leaf net cover keep the pollen out? I don't think it will, but if it will, it might be a good idea to leave the pool covered till the pollen has settled. Any ideas?

Thanks, Webfeet

I honestly don't think anything will stop the pollen except maybe a solid cover. It'll probably be easier to just let the filter take care of the pollen, rather than getting it all in your leaf net cover.

Just my opinion....we have tons of pollen here in NW Lousiana, nearly year-round...but my filter does a pretty good job of keeping it out of the pool as long as I backwash pretty frequently.

Web,
Check out my pics in these old threads. If the pics don't show for some reason post and I'll try and do something.
