Wanting a new pool.

My wife and I just downsized to a smaller home and yard. We are both 60 now, kids are gone and already miss our old in ground pool. Since we have a much smaller yard, we are looking for some advice. Our old pool was a gunite pool but we just can’t afford that kind of pool now.

We need a small pool, maybe 12x28 or 14x28 shallow depth, 42” - 6’. We are thinking about either an Doughboy buried above ground pool or an in ground pool kit. We like the idea of the regular in ground kit but since my health is not what it use to be I have been trying to find someone to install the kit. The problem is that no one will install the kit unless I buy it from them locally and pay twice the price for their kit. I already have someone to do the grading, dirt work and concrete. I just need someone to install the pool kit. Wanting some ideas how I might go about finding someone to install a kit pool.

2nd question is when we sold our old home the new owners did not want the Poolpilot SWG system so I removed it and want to use it on the new pool. Now they are telling me that the SWG will ruin the steel walls of a pool kit pool, or I need to get a special liner to use a SWG.

I live in Joplin, MO. maybe someone has some ideas or suggestions on what I might do or know how to find a contractor to install the Pool kit.

Did you think about getting a fiberglass pool? They come in small sizes, and go in very quickly. The cost may be too
high though - but it may be something to look into. They are very easy to care for and look beautiful.:)

We did check on a fiberglass pool. They wanted way to much in this area. There is only 1 pool company here that has fiberglass pools and I wouldn't let them build a dog house! They have a very bad rep! And the others are to far away to give us a good price.

I've worked for companies that sell AG pools, but not install them, and companies that don't sell them, but refer installers, and a company that sold and installed them. I would imagine that someone in your area does AG installations. Talk to the various pool companies in your area and one of the IG dudes should know someone that can do it for you. :)

Have you considered the rectangular AG pools? The Splash pools, while pricey, are a snap to install and come in all sizes. The hard part is getting a level surface but that's it. You can have a deck built around it.

Or there are the FantaSea pools--look like the old redwood pools, deck and all, but you'll need it installed. I have a FantaSea built into my deck. They are solar-heated as well.

Who is saying this? The water isn't in contact with the steel, sound silly to me. "special liner" for a SWG sounds like pool store speak to soak you for more money. SWG's are getting very popular around here and no special liners are used. Gunite pools are very rare as well as the season is only about 4 months.

This is what I was thinking. I never had a problem with my SWG in my last pool causing any problems with any of the metals in any of the accessories in the pool. Just trying to jack me for some more money because I'm trying to save money. With the exclusion of the concrete work, electrical and plumbing. All I need is someone to setup the pool frame and finish the bottom and install the liner. i just don't see why this has to be such a hard job to find someone to do it.
