Oops!!

I've switched to running my pumps at night trying to reduce water temp (to little or no avail). The other day after we swam I put the Polaris back into the water and set the switch to run when the timer kicked it on. Problem is, I forgot to open the water valve! OOPS!! I discovered my mistake the next morning after it had been on about 7 hours. The pump was still running but was nice and hot. When I opened the ball valve, the water fittings at the pump all started leaking so I shut the pump off and closed the water line. Haven't had time yet but am sure I'll have to refit the water line to the pump. How will I know if I've damaged the pump internally? Any thoughts or suggestions? TIA

If nothing leaks and there are no abnormal noises then you're probably OK. The motor itself would not be damaged by running dry.
