Opened my pool the other day and it had gotten pond-like over the winter. Been filtering it for a few days, backwashing all along the way. DE pool by the way. Finally the water is clear, so clear you can see a small nut that came off my Polaris just sitting there.

Only prob, instead of being bright sparkling blue the pool has a definite green hue. I've put algecide in and shocked it just yesteday-still green.

I'm sure I'll figure it out. PH is normal, Cholorine is now in range.

If you shocked it, and Cl is now in range, you need to shock it again. You need to elevate the Cl level and keep it there until the pool clears.

Hi, JB

Without a test kit and some numbers we can look at it, everyone, including you, is guessing at your issue. That's what Michael is saying above...post up some test reults and we can all help:)

Um....sorry, but is there a heater in your set of equipment?
If the green is as a result of copper eroding from your heater, the last thing you want to do is to shock it, as it may allow the copper to stain your pool. Some metal treatment and clarifier may help clean it up. Maintain your filtration though.

Just my 2 cents worth...
