I sprang a leak in my hose from filter to pool so off to the pool store to get another , I took along my sample bottle so they could check my CYA when there as I have used both bottles now from my Talor kit .

While she was running the test I told her wife had gotten the conditioner at this store and I was trying to get from 20 to 30-35 range .

She said "Oh you got this contitioner ( 4 lbs ) you just go add all of it as having a high reading is great , you don't lose FC and I use tabs and my reading is 151 , bah bah bah "

I said "I don't want it to go to high as the FC works better to kill stuff "

She said repeated to me again that high lvls were good etc . She then told me my aklinity (spelling) was higher than normal , and did I want some chem for it .

I said " I have a liner in my AG pool not cement and that won't be a problem for me :)

She then didn't say squat :D

My conditioner lvl was 30 , up from 20 3 days before . I just read that you here that you should wait a week before testing again . Which I will now do . But it seems alreay my FC lvl is staying up better than at 20 which was taking with this heat wave a 3 quarts or Ulta bleach a day . I think I am if not there at least very close atm .

Now I just wanted to say this :

THANKS , but for this forum I would be again under the pool store evil ways . Was so nice to be able to shrug off her info to me and just get what I wanted . A nice new hose and a pool toy for my neice :)

Pool is so nice and clear and no poly this year and it's so much cheaper .

Thanks again

Hey Sprocket, is Cyanuric Acid (Stabilizer) what you are referring to as Conditioner?... and I think your alkalinity level is important whether or not you have a vinyl or concrete pool, maybe what you are referring to is Calcium, which is needed for a concrete pool but is not as important in a vinyl pool... and based on your Conditioner (stab?) level of 30, an FC level of 20 seems more like a shock level, I think you should be down in the 3-5ppm of FC, maybe someone else can chime in here on those numbers...

My CYA is 30 now up from 20 . <-- at 20 was loseing alot of clorine every day to sun .

My FC is at 3 to 6 . I usually add anytime it's below 4 .

PH is 7.2

I don't really test for anything else , if I test for Alkalinity and try changeing it , it ( if I remember right ) always messes up my PH . So I quit doing it .

I have a Taylor K-2006 test kit .
