The old liner has finally had the biscuit. Originally installed in 1982 or 83, I knew it was on its last legs when I bought the house 4 summers ago and figure I did well to patch and keep it going this long. Water draining to below the jets in about a week and a half was the final point. I can't find the exact leak and getting someone in with tanks to find and repair it at this point still leaves me a patched doomed liner anyway and a couple of hundred bucks light.

I'm getting a new full pattern liner from a reliable company that has done pool maintenance as required for myself and sister for over 10 years in total, so I'm comfortable with that end of it. As the pool is out of commision he is going to pull the old liner, measure, order and install the new one in about a month total elapsed time. If our family weren't long time customers I don't think that quick a turn around time would happen, so that's good.

The big question unkown is what kind of shape the cement in the bottom is like, which I will know when the old one comes out later this week. If it's a mess, the price shoots up and time frame gets exteneded.

Any tips or thoughts on things to have done, hardware or parts to replace while we are into it, things to watch or look for, or ideas on better pattern types, etc. before we finalize what is to be done and what pattern to choose?

This is a 16x32 in-ground, 4 year old Jacuzzi sand filter and pump, 3 year old gas heater.

I'll take some pics while in process as well.

The only thing I did in order to remove any doubt that it was indeed the liner, was to have the lines pressure tested before the new liner went in. I used a company that specialized in this instead of having the company replacing the liner do it. Figured they'd know how to find leaks better. I had to drain the pool for them to do it, but then I had to do that anyway.
