Ok... getting confused...

Looks like I have a DPD kit, not a FAS-DPD.

Can I replace the reagents I have with different ones and use the same little tubey thing? Or would I be better off just to go ahead and buy a new kit?

I have a local Leslie's, but they have been real butt-heads lately. Not very nice. Where can I order a good kit?

Are these good choices?

Taylor Chlorine FAS-DPD Service Test Kit from Leslies (Still Leslies, but not the local people which is ok for me)

Taylor Complete FAS-DPD Kit From In the Swim

Is this what I should be looking for? I don't mind spending less if there are other sources/kits I could be looking at.

I bought mine directly from Taylor Technologies. I have the K-2005 and I only paid 56.50 for it and rec'd it in 2 days. The pool store was selling it for 82.10, same thing. There's a K-2006 that's a little more, but I don't recall the difference.

The K-2005 is the DPD test. The K-2006 is the FAS-DPD test.

You can do a cheaper upgrade by just buying the FAS-DPD test kit--that's all it does. I think it's now gone up to $25.

Leslie's used to sell it too, for about $20 but seems to have stopped.:(

But that single test will give you the equivalent of the K2006 a lot cheaper, since you have the K2005.

I'd like to "upgrade" my K2005 with just the FAS-DPD test kit but can't seem to find a supplier online. Does anyone know what the model number is, or a supplier that carries the kit? I still have a pretty good supply of the rest of the reagents for my K2005 so don't really want to buy another "complete" kit just to get the FAS-DPD kit.

Go to Taylortechnologies.com and here's the link:

http://www.taylortechnologies.com/products_kitinfo.asp?&MarketID=1&KitID=2185

It's kit # K-1515-A and it's less than $24.

Or you can go to Leslies On-line and buy the three reagents you'll need:
1. FAS-DPD powder (called DPD powder but it's the right stuff)
2. FAS-DPD Titrating Agent
and
3. DPD Reagent #3 (this is the CC test)
4. You'll also need a test container with a 10 ml line on it. You should already have something that will do the job in your kit.
Then you'll have the FAS-DPD test--for about $20.

OK: That's 2 alternatives I've given. Should be enough;)

Ok, so the K-1515-A will test FC and CC?

Is there a titrating test for pH or are all the pH tests color matching?

...And my current DPD kit will give me all the other tests I need right? i.e. CYA, TA, CH...

I've never seen or heard of a titrating pH test.

This test, the 1515-A is the FAS-DPD FC / CC test included in other kits.

The other tests should be fine.

Once my PS234 reagents run out I think I'll buy a Lamotte ColorQ (if the reviews are good).

http://www.lamotte.com/pages/pool/newprod.html

http://www.lamotte.com/pages/common/pdf/instruct/2056.pdf

http://www.askalanaquestion.com/electronic_testing_meters_store.htm

It's Expensive (~$145 delivered) but it has enough material for 140 FC, TC, PH, ALK, CH tests and 50 CYA tests which should be good for 3 seasons.

Check here for the K-2006 at $49

Go to SUPPLIES then KITS and look toward the end of the multi-page listings.

DO NOT BUY YOUR TEST KITS FROM THESE GUYS!

http://www.spspools-spas.com/

I ordered a Taylor 2006 from them 20 days ago I STILL do not have it  and was blatantly lied to on 3 separate occasions. They have the worst customer service I have ever seen. They lie, do not answer emails until you have sent them 2 or 3. They may be cheap, but 20 days later I still have no test kit...trying to save $10. I suggest you buy elsewhere.
