We have the above mentioned heater-natural gas model. This is the beginning of its second season and it has a pilot. Had it on today and was working. After we were done swimming DH went to turn it off and the top of the heater was ice cold. It had just stopped working. He checked and the pilot is on and now we can't get it to restart. It is a very windy day here. Could that be the problem? There are no troubleshooting tips in the owners manual. It just says if it won't light to turn off the gas and call for repair.
Would anyone have any tips to try before we have to call someone?

Thanks.

i had my old heater blow out on me a few times on windy days, but completely. but in your case, the pilot is still going..the pressure switch could need replacing..you could try pulling the wires on it (2 of them) and check for corrosion, see what shape the wires are in. i've had corroded ends on my pressure switch before. can you smell natural gas? if not, you're likely not getting flow in which case the thermocouple could be gone..it would be part of the control unit that has your gas switch for "on/off" on it and it's like a sensor wire really..not much to it or the principle. it's the first thing to go usually on natural gas water heaters so that's why i'm taking a guess at that. i wish i could tell you how easy it is to replace on a furnace..or not. i've only replaced them on water heaters.it's like a 14 dollar canadian part and half an hour labour if you're handy in that case. i'd suggest getting a copy of the manual and checking out the troubleshooting section. i'l sniff around too in the meantime.

check this link..maybe the problem. fyi, if your dh is handy at all, i've found these heaters to be quite simple to work on to change parts. if at all uncomfortable with the notion of working with an ng appliance, don't hesitate to get help. saving money on a service call isn't worth anyone's life:)

Thanks tenax. I'll give DH this info and let him look around. He can be handy-depending on what it is. I also contacted Jandy as to who should service. My builder isn't listed as one of their service specialists. I don't want to void any warranty by having wrong person look at it.
