I need to replace my vinyl liner. Is there a (best) time in the season to do this. Before closing, on opening, or does it matter at all.
Im in a cold climate if that matters.
Thanks for the help
I would think it best to do it when opening - this way you can have a whole season of clean balanced water before letting it sit for the winter. I know in my area, northeast PA, most of my chems disappear over the winter, and my ph is pretty low when opening.

just remember you'd like to have a warm day to do it, I open my pool way to early to do a liner replacement at that time of year.
There really is no "best time" but if you're thinking of putting it off until fall because the old one will still hold up, then you may as well wait til next spring, it'll mean you get an extra year/winter out of it compared to putting a new liner in right before closing time.

If you are going to do it yourself, the timing isn't all that important. If you are going to have a pool company do it, I'd go with Sept - Oct, the pool co.s aren't overly busy and might cut you a little $ break on the install, or close the pool for free while they're out there.

We had to replace ours because we had a hail storm bust holes in our liner this spring, but we were going to change it anyway. We did ours weekend before last and have been enjoying nice water ever since, now if the temps would just warm the water up it would actually feel like summer( we have yet to hit 90 in May) so I am ready for some warmer temps!!
