my question ,I have a center drain could this be the problem how can I tell.
a pool company said either way I will need to replace the liner.cause it has to be taken out to see if the center dain is the problem.my liner is only a year old.any sugestion in finding my leak.

Sisie,
I moved your post over here where it will get more attention. There are quite a few threads in this forum dealing with finding leaks. If you do a search on this forum for "liner leak" you will get a bunch of hits. And yes...could very well be the drain.

I'd be trying the dye method on the center drain to see if it's leaking around the perimeter ring, if not, it could be in the drain pipe under your pool.
One way to eliminate the drain from the possible leaks is to lay a large (3'x3') piece of old liner or plastic or anything that will seal it off, over it and weigh it down all over, this should stop or almost stop any water going into the drain, then give it a few hours to see if the leak outside the pool subsides or stops.
If it doesn't you likely have a leak in a different location - first place I'd be looking is near the stairs, then the return/skimmer area, those are the primary places then, it could be anywhere else in the pool.
Another way to see is if it's only leaking into your ditch in one area or if you're getting leakage all around the pool, a wall leak is usually seen in/around the same area outside of the pool, floor leaks are more dispersed and can appear whereever the path of least resistance may take it.

My water level now knee high.standing on the deck I can hear water draining, and can see the water coming underneith at the botton on one area.
My question is can I reuse the liner if it comes out to be the drain.

Don't know for sure, you said it was about 1 year old, so it may still have enough stretch in it, the rest depends on the location of the leak, if you have to completely drain to get under the liner, I don't think reusing is an option since it will be nearly impossible to put the liner back in exactly the same spot in order to line up your drain, skimmer and return. Unless you don't mind putting a large patch over one of these items.
It must be a sizeable leak if you can hear it draining, that could mean some washout has ocurred, in which case, I'm guessing getting everything back in the exact place to line it all up again is going to be a very tough task and liner replacement sounds like the likely outcome.
