Put my pool up last year by myself(w/wife). Got in the other day I noticed several parts of the bottom were really wrinkled. Like pruning on your finger tips when your in the water too long. It also seems to be a little lighter in color. We have the Gorilla bottom. I'm wondering if water got under there and the Gorilla bottom wrinkled up. Any ideas? Anyone have this happen?

Been putting powdered shock or pH Up or pH down directly into the water? That's what it sounds like.

I threw in some old shock a month ago. I used the skimmer pole to stir. Must not have got it all. Any way to fix it? Has it shortened the life of my liner?

The fix is expensive - a new liner:eek: However, the liner isn't destroyed, you just have to get used to the 'pruning'. Yes, you did remove a # of years off of the liner:( John is right about the cause (John, does the pH up do this too? - I thought it was only HIGH cl or acid that kills liners)
K-97, in the future mix any dry chems you are adding in a bucket with water (add chems to water/ NOT water to chems) and stir and let ~ fully disolve BEFORE adding to the pool!
Need more info from me on this, just ask! :D

I don't know. 99.7% of the time I've seen this, the people have been involved in the pH yo-yo because they weren't patient enough to wait for the results of their previous chemical addition and overshot it. All of their dry chemicals went in the same spot. I actually saw one lady whose pool had a layer a half inch thick built up on the bottom.

Thinking about it, you are probably right that it is the dry acid or pH minus and chlorine that is the real risk, but I wouldn't risk the pH up either.

Now, I'll admit I did that very thing myself several years ago. :o Big white spot to remind me everytime I got in the pool.
