Polaris (and other pressure side cleaner) owners...
If you have a dedicated pump to operate your cleaner, how big is it (horsepower)?

We bought a house with the pool already there, so I can't vouch for the design. It's a 15K rectangle with a 3/4 HP booster pump for the Polaris 180. The pipes are 1 1/2" with about a 40' run to the pool. Judging from the equipment, I'd think the pool is about 15 years old. It works.

I have a Mars HP (Zodiac) pressure cleaner that is plumbed to it's own pump (not a booster pump). The pump is a 1 hp Pentair Pinnacle which is an uprated pump so it is equvalent to a 3/4 HP full rated pump. This pump also operates my water features and has it's own intake in the pool and is not connected in any way to my main filtration pump lines. It works flawlessly and not only operates the Mars but also my water featues at the same time if I want.
FYI, just about every booster pump out there is 3/4 hp.

The 3 "big" names in pool cleaners, Polaris, Hayward, Pentair, all have their own branded booster pump. All of them are 3/4hp. Sta-Rite made one in the past, and it may stil be available, that was 1/2hp.

And Polaris is owned by Zodaic.
