Ok, last year I never got the pool opened... long story but it just never got right :(

I took the cover off about a week and a half ago and the water was black and it was full of junk. I managed to get alot out and so far (in the last week and a half) I've added probably 20+ gallons of bleach. It cleared up some but I still can't see the bottom.

24' above ground with a SWG (not running the generator atm)

I just tested the water (added some CYA and raised my PH about 3 days ago so i wanted to make sure it all disolved before I posted).

FC 13.5
CC .5
TC 14
PH 7.2
CYA 50

My plan was to get it clear then agjust to get the SWG running but like I said, its still green. It's not that dark green, just kinda cloudy green but you can't see the bottom.

So, what do I do next? I have the next 4 days off and I really want to get this thing cleared up.

Thanks in advance.

Get your chlorine level up to 15 ppm and keep it there by testing and adding bleach to get the chlorine back up several times a day. Keep your filter running 24/7 and backwash it when your pressure rises. Oh, don't forget to add the dose of patience.........it took awhile to get it messed up, and it's going to take a little time and effort to get it cleaned up...but it will clear.

Why not just drain and refill?

Why not just drain and refill?

Hard to reset a used liner, and water cost can be $500 in some areas.

You can't drain a vinyl liner pool - at least not safely. The water provides an enormous amount of weight. Take it out, the liner will move/stretch, and likely tear, probably in multiple places. Never, ever drain a vinyl liner pool more than 1/3.

I've heard pool guys say that it's possible if you use sandbags to weigh down the liner at the edges and deep end, but even then it's dicey.

Even if your water is brown/black/deep green, it'll clear up. Keep vacuuming to waste, keep your FC level up to 12-15ppm, and run your filter 24/7. It might take several days, it might take a week - but it will clear.
