I am looking for suggestions on a filtration system for my 24' AG pool. Two years ago I bought a Pentair Sand Dollar (22” tank) system and the tank has a small slit in the bottom. A replacement tank alone is $300 when the whole unit with a 1 1/2hp pump was $380. Pentair will not replace it since their warranty is now only 1 year.

I am going to attempt to repair the tank but I am not certain that I will be able to do it sufficiently due to the split being at the very bottom and the inability to be able to reach it. That remains to be seen.

In the meantime I want to research other sand filter system options. I know now that my current pump is probably grossly overrated for my setup so I don’t want to make the same mistake.

Can anyone name a place or let me know of a system that would work well with my 24’ AG pool and 1 ½ piping? A two speed pump would also be nice since I am doing this all over again (hopefully right this time).

Thanks in advance!

I ordered my system.

I went with the Waterway 19" tank and 1hp 2 speed pump with information from

I have a 24 AG and set it up with a 22" Hayward Sand Filter and a Super Pump 3/4 hp. Both where purchased new from EBAY, and even with shipping, beat everyones prices solidly.

The 1.5 pipe you can get from an irrigation supply house. For ours I used sch80 pvc pipe (gray color) for durability, weather resistant. Sch40 in the winter can easily explode when frozen, so winterizing is needed badly when using the thinner walled stuff. The costs of sch80 -vs- sch40 is significant.
