I have a Purex Triton SM-20-2 (27-3207) Multiport valve that leaks in the filter position. I've read many posts refering to other Brands but not mine. I have no manuals or diagrams of ths valve. Is it safe to leave the hande in the filter position and remove the screws to access the gaskets after draining the DE filter? Also will the gasket have to be glued into position? Thanks in advance.

Is that a pentair (the returns I'm getting are telling me it is) if so, go to their website and download the manual - gaskets normally do not need to be glued, after draining, it doesn't matter what position the handle is in for dissassembly.

BIGOH, welcome to the forum (uh... you've been here as long as Matt and I, so let's try - WELCOME TO POSTING!! :D )
Here's a link to doing the Hayward gaskets (and a link within a link to another discussion of the process) 6232. Don't worry too much about brand on the 'how to', they all work ~ the same (as long as it's a 6 position multiport and not a 'push/ pull' type) - but you do want to get the right replacement parts, so be sure that they match up properly.

If you need any more help/ advice/ tips - just ask!:)

I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up in 1969 - don't think I could type (or swim) then, actually, come to think of it, Bill gates was what - maybe 10 and likely doing anything BUT inventing DOS and the internet was somebody's pipedream - how far we've come - gotta love technology!
Wow, that's just....weird - I started writing this and my (our) join dates were Dec. 1969, after posting it, we moved to Jan 1970.......freaky......

Thanks guys! The fix was very easy. I matched up gasket at local pool supply store. They suggested using a small amount of vinyl pool cement to secure the gasket. Anyway I'm up and running with no leaks! If my memory serves me correctly I became a member in 2002. I'm not sure why is says 1969.
