They finished plastering at 8:00pm last night, but didn't want me to start filling until 8:00am this morning. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about the 12 hour gap?

Temps were cold, about 36 degrees early this morning (3:00am), is this why they had me wait to fill?

FWIW, they did an excellent job with the plaster, it looks wonderful.

at 36 degrees? I think a 12 hour drying period will not hurt the plaster.

Steve, I think they told you that to help prevent the 'etching' I talked about in your other post, the plaster should be allowed to set up some before starting the water.

I'm surprised they plastered with temps going down that low. When my pool was built, I had to wait until April for plaster because it was already October by the time they were ready for it. They told me they wanted temps above 50 deg F in order to plaster.

It was probably around 65 degrees when they started, 52 degrees when they finished, but that night/early morning it dipped to 36.
