My Hayward Super Pump 1-hp started leaking at the end of the season last fall so I'm looking to replace it after 3 seasons. It was left dry running in the second season which I'm sure contributed to it only lasting 3 seasons.
Here is my current setup: Inground, ~30,000 gallons, Aqua-Rite SWG, I only have 2 water outlets going into the pool (plus a slide and the Polaris cleaner outlet), also a heater.
Here are the specs on the Pentair Tagelis filter:
Model # TA-60D Filter Diameter 24" Req. Sand (lbs.) 325 Flow Rate (GPM) 60 Turnover Rate (gallons)
@ 6 hrs. 21,600 @ 8 hrs. 28,800 @ 10 hrs. 43,200
Everything works fine with the current pump, but here are a couple things I had to adjust the first season:
1. The pool slide is the last thing that gets fed from the pump and the first season we had to swith the 2 pool outlets to the smaller size so enough pressure would get water to the slide.
2. It is pretty hard to prime my pool as the pump and filter sit above the pool quite a bit.
Therefore, I think my needs would be to get a little larger pump so I might be able to use the normal size outlets in the pool and a pump that will prime better. Or do I just replace it with the same thing because I know it works?
I don't understand how a bigger pump affects the filter.
P.S. I know everything is a bit undersized for this size pool, but it works!
thanks for any advice!
