Hello again, not sure if this is the right place for this ques. This is our first pool and it completely froze. It's been solid for about 1 month now. I didn't see anything in fall prep. that talked about "Pool freezing" . Will the pool be o.k. in the spring? before I closed it I drained the pool below the skimmer, but we had alot of rain and the water level is above the skimmer now. Will the pool be o.k. in the spring? What do I need to do to keep it from freezing solid.

And Thank You to everyone in this forum!!!!

Move it south! :) There's nothing you can do. Everybody's pool freezes in cold climates. That's what winterizing prepares for.

Here in New England, my pool freezes solid....a few feet of solid ice. Nothing to worry about...it's supposed to do that. I usually try to keep the water below the skimmer until it freezes, then you just leave it til spring....

Thanks all for the responses. Being new at this, I was just worried about the ice expanding, and maybe stretching the pool walls.

Since the pool surface isn't restricted, the ice rises. What you have to worry about are things like the skimmer, filter and plumbing where the ice doesn't have anyplace to go.

Seems like the ice could tear the liner but since that's how it's done here in Michigan I guess it's not a problem.
