Hi All

We are attaching our equipment breaker box to a new wall built to hide the equipment. My elelctrician says I need the box to be at least three feet away from the heater. Is that so he can gain access to the box or does that mean the box can't be near any pool eqyuipment, including PVC plumbing.

I would like to install the box in the middle of the wall were the only thing it would be near is the pump and PVC. I would have to step over some of the valves to get to the box.

Also,is there any other code that dictates where the electrical box can go? The equipment is 10 feet away from the pool on the other side of a five foot wall.

Thanks for any guidence.

That is what the code is trying to prevent. You need a clear path to that disconnect, not only for serviceabilty, but safety also. In my area, it does not matter what the equipment is: A/C condensor, pool pump, sprinkler pump, etc., it will fail inspection. Plus the cost of moving box or equipment, the addition cost ot get an inspect back out.....do it right the first time.
