We are in Florida....Even if the weather is a little cool, humid or hot we seem to add water 3 times per week. The pools is 4 years old. It does not seem to have a leak anywhere. What is considered average for loss of water. We use a salt chlorinator and it is never covered. The cleaner runs automatically every day for 4 hours. Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the forum. Need a little more info about the possible leak issue like the type of pool. You should try and estimate the rate at which the water is being lost. Best way to do this is to estimate the surface area of the pool and then make periodic measurements of the water level and note the time. You can then compute the loss rate in gallons per hour or some other units. Depth measurements can be made with a simple ruler by measuring the water level at a known point on a step or relative to the top of a skimmer faceplate, or some other known, consistant reference point. Once we know the loss rate we can decide if you have a problem. Next step would be to determine if running the pump has any effect. Off the cuff, adding 3X per week seems a bit much.

Tough question to answer, but 3x a week is pretty high. Evaporation depends on MANY factors, but as a comparioson, My pool sits in a very open area, susceptible to wind and always in full sun, however i do not have to top it up THAT frequently, even if i keep it uncovered. We are in Ontario, where our summers are HOT and HUMID.

It sounds as though a bucket test might be in order here. Place a bucket on your first step of the pool and fill to the same level as the pool. If the pool drops faster than the bucket, you have a leak.
