Sounds Impressive, is it normal to have that many main drains for a 11x30 pool?
eljefe281

I wouldn't think so, but I've got more pumps than normal.

Interesting design. We did free form as it seemed more practical but I'm very fond of the geometric designs. Just curious, was that just the width you wanted or were you working with certain constraints?
Keep us posted.

Well, ideally, we would have liked it a little wider, but we:
have an easement to deal with
wanted to keep it far enough away from the house
wanted to retain a decent amount of decking

Easments are a pain. lol.
Regardless, I'm especially looking forward to seeing the completed project. I have a feeling this is going to be a sensational looking pool.

It's starting to look like something, with most of the coping in place.
I feel sorry for my poor builder. I strongarmed him into ordering custom, double bullnosed coping pieces for the top of the raised beam and around the spa so we wouldn't have seams running lengthwise. There was some sort of miscommunication and not enough pieces got ordered, so now he's going to have to remobilize the coping guy next week.
It amazes me that this guy doesn't blink an eye when something like this happens.
There must be a whole lot of contingency in the contract price.

Yes, I thought I'd leave it in there to add some character. :p
Actually, they completed the permanent reroute, but, for some reason, they haven't removed the temporary line yet.
Maybe they don't want the cavities to get all full of heaven-knows-what.

Michelle and the gang up there can make miracles happen. Your pool looks great. Great tile selection. Our tiles came from Noble as well. Getting close, huh?? We are too. I should be in the pool by next weekend. We can't wait either. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks a lot. I'm happy with the way it's turned out so far.
Actually, just the coping came from Noble. This is National Pool Tile Group tile.
The tile selection is reason 35,764,541,543,241,574 to listen to the wife when it comes to aesthetic decisions. I probably would have picked a slightly lighter blue tile. In retrospect, I think hers was the better choice.
The decking guys were hot to pour the deck today, but the builder pulled the reins in on them. He won't be able to get out there until this afternoon to do a pre-pour inspection of what they've done so far, so he's going to reschedule the pour for Tuesday or Wednesday.
In the meantime, they have a little replumbing to do. When the plumbers plumbed around the equipment, they didn't have the salt cell, so they left a spool piece for it. Unfortunately, the foreman told them to put that in the wrong place in the flow path. So, they have to re-do the plumbing downstream of the heater.
Also, they still need to complete their pressure test.
Plenty to keep them busy for the next two to three days.

I'm not sure which pipes you mean. The jury-rigged arrangement in the deep end? That's the temporary sewer line (still in place, but no longer in service).
I echo Sean's request...pictures, pictures, pictures!

Yesterday, my builder and his plumbers came out to re-do the plumbing around the equipment pad.
It's kind of hard to see, but, if you look closely at one of the equipment photos I posted earlier, they had installed the heater right in front of a window.
That's a no-no.
They shifted everything to the right and installed the salt cell in the proper place in the flow path. I like the new arrangement. It leaves me some open space on the pad, which is why I wanted such a big pad in the first place.
I need to call the builder to confirm this, but I believe they also left the capped-off pipe for possible future installation of a pressure-side cleaner below grade. If that is in fact what they did, that's pretty nifty.
SeanB.
10-11-2006, 12:41 PM
The vent off the heater has to be at least 48" from the window - if it is a window that can be opened. If it is, say rain glass from your bathroom, that is permanently sealed, then you can put it there - at least that is what I was told. Ours is over 4' away from the house, so I was in the clear there.

The plaster guys came out yesterday to scrape down the pool/spa walls and clean out all of the garbage that had accumulated on the bottom of each.
I can actually see the main drains in the spa! It's been a while...
The decking pour is tentatively scheduled for tomorrow - if it doesn't rain too much today and it doesn't rain tomorrow.
I'm fighting the odds, I'm afraid.

Don't listen to the weather forecasters. You know how good they are in the Houston area. You are better off consulting your lucky plastic eight ball. Look's like between you, me, and Sean our pools should be finished at about the same time. Good luck and enjoy. :D

Yep. They came and did the pool clean-up for me today too. I was hoping they were going to plaster as well, but when I looked outside, they had gone. And now, of course, it's raining. :(

It'll happen. I was good all along, but started getting anxious here the last couple of weeks, mostly just because I want my yard back.
Is your plaster scheduled too?
They came and got all of our equipment running today and the landscaping is in. I can't wait to get home and see it all. I've got the gas company coming tomorrow. Apparently we need a larger meter for the heater - $250. The upside is we should be in the spa tomorrow night!

Nice looking layout!! Is there an easement at the back of your yard that prevented you from setting the pool farther back to provide a bigger patio area up against the house?

Yes, there is. Eight feet.
