Hi, I live in pa have 15X30 ag pool and thinking about getting a heater.
pool has full sun from 11.30 am to 5pm.any recommendations on type of
heater and cost,and the cost to operate it.

I'd say make it simple: Get a 4'x20' rollable solar heater (Fafco or equivalent), tee off from your return (put in a ball valve) and go over the side with a return from the panel.
Panels that size cost around $200. Figure $50-$100 for the fittings.
Cost of operation: $0.00
Effectiveness: You should see a 6-7 degree increase in pool temp.
If that's not enough, add a second panel, either a 2'x20' or another 4'x20'
My folks had a 33'x18' oval and I added 4x20 and a 4x10 (same as a 2x20). All told it was less than $500. Their pool which was barely 78deg was 84-86 deg all summer.--and they only had 6 hours of sun a day as well. I added a 4-way valve as well.
