View Full Version : Remove the diving board?

How depressing that I'm getting ready to close, that summer was way too short.

Anyway, 17x33 IG Vinyl pool. The diving board in question is secured to the concrete slab on four embedded bolts w/ washers and nuts holding it down. Last year when I put in place I made sure to goop them up pretty well with waterproof grease.

But the thing is bloody heavy and it's a 40 yard haul over part of a deck and the rest lawn, by myself, to the shed with only a sturdy hand cart to carry it. I'd like to just leave it there over the winter (which can get pretty harsh here). Is this asking for trouble?

Thanks.

Chuck

I don't really know as I'm a "newbie" to the diving board scene; but I have noticed that some online P.S.s are selling diving-board-covers ( as well as slide covers & solar-reel covers... not to mention heater/heat pump covers)

I would be interested in hearing if anyone knows about how well these products work....

I'm still planing on putting away my board this winter, but I would like to hear winterizing experiences from others :)

Most people I know just leave them out for the winter. I would hate to have to take it down each and every season.

I don't think our diving board has ever been removed...and it gets very cold here.

Ours never comes off and we are in the deep freeze most of the winter. The previous owners installed the pool 15+ years ago and never took the board off either. Storing it indoors or wrapping it up may keep it in cosmetically better shape though.
