Just got my first quote to have the pool replastered, and I have a question.

PB quotes it two ways, one a standard plaster and the other "multicoat" system, which he claims gives improved bonding to the old surface. He backs it up with a two year warranty instead of one year for the standard.

Anyone have any experience with this multicoat? Some quick googling turns up a proprietary product called Multicoat Scratch Kote 2000 that sounds like what is involved. Is this a product or procedure that provides real benefits or just a way to charge more for the same thing? As far as I knew (though there's a lot I don't know) plaster sticks to plaster pretty darn well.

Thanks.

In order for plaster to stick to your pool, your pool shell needs to be Rough as can be. So the multicoat is the same thing as Bond kote, which is what i use by SGM. There both reputable products. So i would not worry about anything just make sure that once the Multicoat is done you see a stiple finish, spiky looking which means its roughness.
