View Full Version : Valve Actuator not working properly

One of my valve actuators, for the spa, is not working when I turn on the spa from either the spa side button or inside the house. The system is a Compool by Pentair. The actuator itself works when I flip the switch on the valve. The other two actuators work properly when the spa button is pushed. I opened up the panel at the main controller and jiggled some wires etc., which worked when it happened once before, but to no avail this time. Anyone ever experience anything similar or have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
Mark

are you handy enough with a voltmeter? if not, then take a look at the back of the circuit board, try switching the wire harness for the valve that is not operating with one that is. Often the problem lies with the wire harness or the wire connection at the valve actuator itself.

I've rebuilt a few of these.

thanks for the reply. If the problem was at the actuator it self, would it still not work even by flipping the switch on the actuator. When I flip the switch on the actuator, the valve turns. It's when I push the button on the unit in the house or at the spa or at the main board, that it does not work, which would lead me to believe it is somewhere on the board or within the "brain" it self.
I will try switching the wire harness at the board. Are these easy to replace?

Well switched the harnesses as suggested and the valve worked, which indicates a problem on the circuit board right. I played around a bit, making sure things were tight. Still not working. Any body have suggestions. I made an appointment for service on the 5/23. But would love to be able to figure it out and cancel the appointment. Any help would be appreciated.
