I am attempting to lower my TA but my PH needs to get lower 1st. I found the sticky on lowering the TA but can't find the info on the acid to lower the PH. I know there is something out there that explains exactly what to buy and how to add it to the pool but I can't find it.

Thanks

Muriatic acid. Dosage can be found in bleachcalc.

Hardware store, Lowes, Home Depot all should have muriatic acid. I add it slowly in front of a return jet. Be careful with it - it's pretty nasty stuff.

Be careful not to breathe the fumes or get any on yourself.

Not sure why but it's in the Paint Department at Lowes & HD.

Yep --- it is nasty --- Also eats concrete  (the lime I think)

Both Lowes and Home Depot in CA keep acid in the pool section. I think it depends on the area of country. In CA there are a lot of pools so it justifies having a separate pool section.
