I am planning to change the vinyl liner, so is it better to change the liner in the fall or in the spring before the next season?

Also if I change the liner in the spring, is there any need to put chemicals in the water before closing since I will need to drain it when I change the liner?

Any help with these questions would be great.

Thanks,
Matt.

Pool: IG 16x32; 5 ft average depth; vinly liner.

The thicker liners (30 mil or more) need warm temps during installation. So as long as you are getting the 20 or 27 mil, the timing shouldn't matter very much.

The only reason we are having ours done this fall is because next spring we'll be anxious to get the pool opened and wouldn't want to have to wait for that!

I don't know what others would suggest about chemicals if you wait until spring for the liner. I think I'd go ahead and add some, just because my brain is programmed to do that. :)

Don't have an opinion on changing Spring vs. Fall. If you change in the Spring, I see little benefit in maintaining your water balance over the Winter. Possibly a little more pleasant draining it, but perhaps not worth the trouble.
