Hi,

After opening up to pea soup this spring in our 16X32 AG I'm leery about this coming winter. I hated that mesh/tarp type cover and think that it helped to foment the algae growth. I got a solid cover for this year and after reading WaterMom's description will follow it to the letter in hope that I don't have a repeat next spring. I don't know what happened as I used Polyquat and shocked my pool before closing. I didn't check the water all winter though as we have a surround deck and it was hard to get at once the cover was on.

My question about antifreeze - I have a Hayward 2000 series and it says to winterize it with antifreeze but doesn't really say how to do that. The inlet and outlet pipes are located on the side of the unit and are parallel to the ground so pouring anything into it will just run back out. Has anyone had any experience with this? Last winter was so mild it rarely got below freezing but this winter may be different. It's only the first week of September and the leaves are starting to turn and fall in places. (I'm in western PA)

Also, once spring comes, how do you flush it out of the heater?

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
