For me, anyway.

Opened pool today, here are my numbers:
Ph 7.7
Alkalinity 120
Cl 2.5
CYA 40 (this is guess; don't have Ben's test kit yet; out of reagent to test for it)

Water pretty clear. I have a solid cover so that obviously helps.

My thought is to lower alkalinity a bit, maybe to around 100. Like to keep Ph at 7.3-7.5 range, as I've had algae in the past and want the insurance of chlorine being effective. Also, I have some poly 60 to add in. Should I add a whole quart to start or just a weekly dosage?

What should I do first, adjust alkalinity? Add bleach? Poly? Don't want to misstep early. A little nervous about screwing something up.

Pool is 30,000 gallon, vinyl liner.

Advice will be appreciated.

Don't worry about the alkalinity. It will drop when you adjust your pH. I'd say adjust pH, bump your Cl up to 4 or 5 and you're all set. No need for the poly.
