I was told that there was a product or some type of pill that you can put in your pool, and what it does is when you have people / friends over and when they pee-pee the water surrounding them would turn a different color; like purple. Is there such a product??

If so , I want to buy it!!

In about 3 weeks I plan to throw a pool party and I want to toss that in the pool , so when they try to pee, they will have a sweet surpise that will go around them. hahaha

Nope, it's merely an urban legend. There is no such chemical that you can add to your pool that will reveal the presence of urine in the water.

Yeah, but you can use OTO directly into the water and tell them that if it turns yellow, somebody pee'd. Add to the effect by putting some drops in a cup of plain bottled water (not tap water as it contains chloramines) first to show them that it will not turn yellow because there's no pee in it. THEN drop it in the pool, but make sure you have a chlorine residual too!

Then there's the one about...

Here's one: if the water is clear, why is it that we cannot see clearly underwater with our eyes opened?

I know you all knew the above, but just in case you want to prove to someone else (you know, the internet is never wrong!!)

I once knew a fellow who put some food coloring in a plastic squirt bottle, and was fond of easing up behind people in his pool and releasing a 'cloud' between their legs. The results were usually pretty comical, as everyone pointed and laughed. I seem to recall one guy getting pretty upset over it once, so I guess you have to know your victims... like any practical joke, there is always a risk of someone turning 'hole' on you. ;)

Sounds like a funny thing to do. I might do that to my older brother when he comes to visit; or maybe do it to my son @ his Pool Birthday Party. hahaha!! Nah,,, I would not do that to him. hehehe

C'mon folks, what's the big deal with a little pee in your pool? It's sanitary, can't transmit AIDS or other blood-borne illnesses, and can be used in a pinch to help with jellyfish stings!

So relax, it would take hundreds of kids peeing all at once into your pool for it to affect anyone's lives. I pee in my pool all the time! Let 'er rip!!

True story: My wife and I were walking on the beach one time, and I managed to get stung by a jellyfish fragment carried by the receding surf. It really hurt so I told my wife to get into the car and I'd find a place to try the pee trick, as per urban legend.

Urine is supposed to lessen the pain of jelly fish stings, so I walked up behind a vacant house that was for sale on the beach, and started trying to pee on the red spot. It was on the back of my leg, so I had to lean on the house with one arm, and try to twist around to hit the sore spot with the other.

Of course, right then a real estate agent and his unwitting homebuyer walked right out onto the deck next to me, and I was so flustered, I hit the shoe of the homebuyer instead of my leg.

I also hit the wall, the deck, and lastly, my leg. The image of the RE agent is forever seared into my memory as he recoiled in horror.

Guess what? Urine doesn't do a **** thing for jelly fish sting!

But I tried to explain and apologized to the RE agent and tried to offer my towel for the lady's badly-urined shoe.

I asked her if she was alright. She said, "well, my leg doesn't sting."
