We recently had a new pool built, and it has an ozonator which introduces some bubbles into the water. The bubbles are smallish (they are sucked into the stream through the pump suction). Anyway, this causes tiny microbubbles to also come out of the returns into the pool and spa. During the day you can't see them but at night with the pool light it looks like a buch of debris in the water. I know its bubbles because any object left submerged will attract a layer of bubbles (especially hairy chests and even the drain covers). When I put the system in spa mode, with the returns and suction entirely going to/coming from the spa, it can make the water look really cloudy. Turning on the turbojets clears it up in a few minutes, presumably because the huge turbojet bubbles collect and combine with the tiny bubbles, thereby bringing them to the surface and away.
Is this normal? I haven't noticed my Alkalinity moving much so I think the bubbles are small enough not to cause the chemical reaction that changes alk drastically.
