My wife and I are going to have a pool installed. I have a few questions regarding pool brands, sizes, and finishes. We are leaning toward a fiberglass, kidney-shaped 14x28 (3ft-5'7ft) Leisure Pool brand. They also come with a non-white finish.

Any issues with this manufacturer?

Is 14x28 too small?- we have no kids and will probably just have a few couples at a time in the pool.

And what are your thoughts on a darker colored gel-coat vs. lighter?

BTW - great site, full of info.

Fibreglass is lovely but expensive

width is good, you may want to consider upsizing the length if you plan on doing laps.. a good kick-off & your almost half way across the pool before you've even started "swimming".
depth is good unless you want to jump or dive in. ( or have a slide)

Darker colour will help retain heat; ( good if you live northernly)... ( lighter is better if you live in a hot climate as it will reflect heat)

Are you ok with a deep end that you can't dive or really jump into without being carefull? It's all personal preference, and how YOU use the pool, it would just be dissapointing if you found it too shallow after the fact.

Same for the length and width, if you have the room. Is the incremental cost to go bigger very much? Just hate to see you invest and not feel it's big enough!

I have a fiberglass pool and I love it. I would go with the darker color - with the white, it looks beautiful, but you can see every spec of dirt - you can see a hair on the bottom! I never saw the darker pools, but in my opinion I would go for it. As for the size - I have the next size 16 x 33 that is 6 ft at the deepest (really about 5'5", cause the water is not up to the top). My pool is plenty big enough, and the size you are looking at would be fine to cool off and float around - it is all a matter of what works for you. The manufacturer of my pool is Water World. I have not had any problems with my pool. This is the 7th season.
