Hi,

Newbie here inherited a pool with a pentair 2" slide valve hooked up to a nautilus DE filter. My question is how many positions are available and which position is backwash? Not sure but I think the model is "26-1165". Looks like this:

Thanks for your input.

Scanned from the manual that came with mine. The valve position is different for sand & D.E. filters.

D.E. Filter
Handle up = D.E. backwash
Handle down = normal filtration flow

Thanks for the info Socal_biker, but it only seems like I can only turn the handle left and right? There is an "open" and "lock" and right now I believe it's set in between those positions? Thanks again!

Turning left and right merely locks or unlocks the valve in its present position. I think your O-ring inside the unit has become dry and is stuck. You may try disassembling and lubing the O-ring and see if you can get it to move up and down like it should.
