We are building 44x20ft IG pool, 8 ft deep. Plan on having 2 lights one in shallow and one in deep. We are trying to choose between SAM or LED (hayward) HELP.

Coming from an Avionics background, Led is far superior to any other light I've worked with as far as life and durability. You shouldn't ever have to wory about changing bulbs and they run off of a very low voltage. I mentioned the LED pool light idea to my buddies at work years ago, and never did anything with it. :(

not sure if you saw this thread, but I'm pretty happy with the colorlogic - no experience for me with the SAM lights.

When I was deciding between SAM and LED lights I asked several people in pool business which was better. I was told that the LEDs are not as bright as the SAM lights but they were expected to last longer. I don't know if anything has changed regarding LED brightness in the last year. I went with the SAMs (two in pool) and a SAL in the spa. I very pleased with the results. With two or more they do a "color swim" program (through my IntelliTouch controller). I have a white finish which really reflects the light. If you have a darker finish make sure you have enough lighting or the colors will be dull.
The SAM lights put out an equivalent 300W lighting (according to their brochure). The best LEDs (I could find) where equivalent to 150W.
Good luck

Second Mshumak

We have 39 x 18 ID IG 1.5 year old pool with same 3 SAM/SAL configuration, lots of light, when dark, FYI in pool the two don't point towards each other.

Thanks for your time! I think we will go with the LED's.

Thank you for replying, what kind of plaster do you have in your pool?

I own a SAM, and from one end of the pool to the other (33' long) it does not fill the whole pool up w/ light. Thats all I know. However it does look nice still
