I'm new to pools with construction starting in Dec 2006 for our IG. I tried to put together a chart in excel to help me along, using information from here and other resources. Can you take a look and see if I'm pretty close with the information?

Much appreciated...

Hi, Steve,

Nice chart...well thought out. I would move pH to the daily schedule. The little OTO test is nice for pH and Cl as a duel test. You'll probably do them less as you get to know your pool but daily is a good start.

Additionally, CYA (stabilizer) has little change....I would move it to monthly. I don't have an SWG so can't tell you when to test.

Moderators, Steve's chart is a nice little synopsis of pool care and, with his permission, it would be handy as a sticky for folks to work with.

Nice work, Steve.

Thanks for the inputs. Being new at this I wanted some sort of chart so I don't forget to do something.

New Chart w/changes (in MS Word format), by all means sticky-away:

Philbo,

Cleaning the SWCG cell monthly is not something I would do lightly. I presume you mean acid wash. It can increase cell wear.

If the pool chemistry has been out of whack for some time, or the controller is not reversing polarity correctly, then this has to be corrected before thinking of acid wash. If the system has high CH, that too may be an argument to acid wash, but again the cause and not the solution.

I have not had to acid wash my cell in over two years, and have only seen minor scale that was removed with hosing down.

Hope this helps.

Pat

I guess I should stand corrected.. I have not had mine running very long and planned to clean it at the end of the month per the owners manual. I guess it comes down to the individual system / pool.... I know it should not be weekly though.
