Hi all - pool just started a week ago and have notices our Polaris 280 is spraying too much water out of the pool through its sweep hose. I just noticed it a couple days ago when I added salt to the pool. Problem is, the spray would hit the windows, and leave a salt residue on the windows.

The Manual says to move the adjustment screw but that didn't seem to do anything. The Manual also suggests using some weights for the sweep hose which, of course, they sell. Has anyone tried those? Do they work?

What if I just take the sweep hose off? Does that severely reduce the effectiveness of the 280?

I bought the tail sweeper weight because I had the same incessant water spraying with my Polaris. I installed it according to the directions. It hasn't helped at all (I think because it goes between the sweeper hose and the body of the Polaris, which doesn't really help all that much - if it went at the end of the sweeper hose - by the scrubber thing - to weigh it down, I think it would work better).

I'd say save your money and try to rig some other kind of weight at the end of the sweeper hose, which is what I'm going to do next summer.

I finally just took the tail off. Seems to be cleaning well enough without it!
