We are going to put in a 20X40 pool and are looking at a gas heater.

What brands have you used or researched?

What do you like about gas heaters and what DON'T you like about them?

Thanks!

i had a teledyne lars which went kaput this year..actually, it was still working but the thermocouple was gone and more importantly, it was rusted out (shot flames 2 ft out the front). given this one lasted for 23 yrs, longer than my house furnaces, i just bought a lars jandy 2. it was a good price, convenience size for my pool shed. i have to get it hooked up, but if it's anywhere as close to as good as the teledyne, i'll be very happy. from the sounds of it, sta-rite makes a good heater too. they sure make good pumps in my opinion.

I LOVE my sta-Rite heater. Easy hook up, excellent performance/efficiency and it's also very easy to operate (electronic ignition, digital display). It will also never rust and has really good build quality (lots of stainless hardware)

I had a Raypak 214k btu and my gas bill was $190. I installed the Sta-Rite 333k btu heater and used it WAY more than the month before and my bill was $124.
