OK,
So I Vacuum the pool and the next day it looks like I never touched it. Little pockets of brown all over the place. After reading threads here I’m suspicious that the spider gasket is bad. Problem is, in the parts diagrams, they do not show the valve assembly apart or list the gasket. I really don’t want to spend 100 bucks on a new valve. :(

Anyone know if you can get the gasket for the Hayward 142?

Update -

I put some silicone lube on the gasket and vacuumed again and there is less crud. I also found a split in the vacuum line, I don't think this had anything to do with it as it would be a "sucking wound" in the line and should not be discharging but I also duct taped that. Hopefully I can finish the season and get a new flomax valve assembly over the winter. It's a stinker, 100 dollar part VS. a 20 dollar gasket. :(
