View Full Version : Correct AutoPilot Install Configuration

I have a spill over spa attached to my pool (3 weeks old). I hadn't really thought about the plumping configuration until yesterday when I went to use the spill over feature for the first time. The return coming out of the heater passes through a 3-way valve. One output goes directly to the Spa return. The other output passes through the AutoPilot and then to the Pool return.

With this plumbing configuration, the return must be set to the pool return in order to chlorinate the pool. If I want to use the spill over feature of the spa, the spa return water is not passing through the Autopilot.

Is this the normal installation configuration or should the AutoPilot be installed before the valve so both the Spa and Pool receive chlorinated return water?

Thanks.

Anthony,

This is the correct installation. Your spa water is chorinated as it's taking your chlorinated pool water and running it through the spa, spilling back into the pool. When the spa is used, the chlorine will get used, but once you go back to normal circulation (spill over spa), the spa water will turnover to clean, chlorinated water in no time at all.

Thank you. BTW I absolutely LOVE the AutoPilot. It's the best feature of the pool as far as I'm concerned.
